Position Details

Job title: Team Leader

Location: Selected Districts

Primary Manager: Research Supervisor

Job Summary:

The Team Leader will be responsible for supervision of a team of interviewers, report daily all necessary information. He/ She must be a self-motivated individual who collects Young Adult of Zimbabwe sur vey data in selected districts of Zimbabwe. He/she will work closely with the survey management team to ensure collection of high quality, timely research data.

Essential Duties and responsibilitiesContacting district officials and all local authorities as a way of publicizing the survey
Preparing fieldwork itinerary for the team and identifying all selected Enumeration Areas (EAs) assigned to the team
Distributing survey materials to team members and assigning work to team members
Supervising enumerators and editing their work in the field and give feedback on performance
Ensure survey data are backed up and submitted according to standard operating procedures
Overall supervision of data collection teams including drivers
Attending some interviews and give feedback on how the interviews were conducted
Conducting interviews
Conducting rapid HIV testing and counseling to all consenting respondents according to the national guidelines
Issue HIV test results to all tested respondents and provide referral to local health facilities
Do spot checks on households to ensure correct households are interviewed
Making spot checks on already interviewed households and re-ask few questions on the questionnaire
Solving problems encountered in the field and inform the Research Supervisor
Following-up on refusals
Prepare and submit regular field progress report to the supervisor
Monitoring and reporting of data collection activities (check surveys for correction, completion and timeliness)
Complete daily debrief forms, including calculations of total households visited, completed surveys and villages including reporting immediately to Research Supervisor any problem arising in the field
Ensure relevant transfer of information to the Research Supervisor
Perform any other duty assigned by supervisor
Qualifications and Experience:A Nursing degree or Diploma, Degree in Public Health or other medical related fields with knowledge of survey methodologies
Certificate in rapid HIV testing and counseling
Research Ethics Certificate is an added advantage
Recent experience conducting national household HIV surveys including supervising data collectors and conducting interviews is an added advantage
Recent experience conducting field rapid HIV testing preferred
Experience in monitoring and evaluation, field work supervision in survey data collection
Ability to work with a multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural team
Good communication, an ability to listen and willingness to travel throughout Zimbabwe.
Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesPrevious working experience in Zimbabwe and knowledge of local languages and culture
Ability to work well independently and within a team
Good knowledge and understanding of HIV/AIDS and child protection issues in Zimbabwe
Demonstrated oral and writing skills and good interpersonal communication
Proven leadership skills
Good understanding of research methodologies and research ethics
Good attention to detail and excellent follow-through
Computer literacy
Ability and willingness to undertake frequent in country travel
Good attention to detail
Familiarity with android smartphone/tablet platforms for data collection
