Deputy Engineering Manager Full Time

Our client is one of East Africa’s major international businesses, with interests across the region, and they are now looking for an individual to assist engineering operations in one of their central tobacco processing factories.

Reporting to the Mechanical Engineer and working with Artisans, the incumbent’s role is to assist the Mechanical Engineer in ensuring plant availability all the time. This includes planned maintenance, routine and breakdown maintenance of the plant and company machinery.

What you will be responsible for

• Planning and monitoring the company’s environmental and compliance management programmes, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards

• Ensuring operations are conducted efficiently and on time, with consistently high-quality production

• Maintenance of plants, irrigation, power lines, roads, and buildings

• Budgetary control and hiring responsibilities

• Draft yearly and periodic planned and preventative maintenance plans

• Ensure the plant is kept updated with modern maintenance techniques

• Assisting in commissioning of new projects

• Supervision of employee productivity

• Manage instrumentation, hydraulics & Pneumatics technology

• Assist with budget formulation, implementation and control including for CAPEX projects

Who we are looking for

• Mechanical/Electrical Engineering degree; preferably educated to Master’s level

• Experience of maintaining heavy industrial machinery within manufacturing industries and supply chain preferred, and exposure to industrial steam generation in a factory setting

• First degree in Mechanical or Maintenance Engineering

• University graduate traineeship in a manufacturing process

• Must be a member of the Zimbabwe Institution of Engineers

• Knowledge of MATLAB, SCADA, PVsysts, HOMER and AUTOCAD systems

• Experience in managing renewable energy systems
